Intro: The Rollerblade Interview Rollerblade's Nick Skally skates his first marathon and provides a sneak peak at the 2005 Rollerblades! By Robert "Wishes He Had His Own Product Line" Burnson Rollerblade's General Manager Jeremy Stonier tells the story of one of his first meetings with Giancarlo Zanatta, one of the big bosses at Tecnica, the company that bought Rollerblade in 2003. Stonier recalls Zanatta telling the assembled Rollerblade staffers, "We have to make sure you have time to skate ... that you test the products on your feet and that everyone in the organization is committed to the activity." Well, Rollerblade's Nick Skally is doing his part! He strapped on skates and raced the Northshore Inline Marathon in September in Duluth, Minn. "It was a great experience," he says. "Skating with all those people is a communal thing. It's great." Nick is the public relations and marketing manager for Rollerblade USA. He has been with the company through its move to New Jersey (from Minnesota), its sale to Tecnica, and the slump in the inline industry. Last week, the Inline Planet put Nick on the hot seat. And he graciously answered questions about the company, the inline industry and the 2005 Rollerblades (including NEW 100 mm setups). Here's the Planet Interview with Nick Skally:
