Skate Seminars, Camps and Workshops ... July 17, 2006 Publow Brings the Skate Camp Home Matzger Slowing Down? ... Don't Count on It - It's going to be another busy year for skate legend Eddy Matzger. He tells the Planet that he's planning to hit all the major marathons once again. He also intends to defend his title at the Athens to Atlanta Road Skate, which was scratched last year. Aside from racing, he will be teaching 14 of his popular workshops, including three at his new Skate Farm in Virginia. (Go to Event Calendar for workshop listings.) (March 1, 2006) Freestyle: She's Got the Moves - English freestyle champ Naomi Grigg will be crossing the big pond again this year to share her wizardry with America. (Feb. 21, 2006) Speed: Publow Readies 2006 Mallorca SpeedCamp - Skate coach and author Barry Publow is returning to the island of Mallorca this spring to lead another of his skate camps. This year's SpeedCamp (May 6-13) will be condensed into one week for skaters of all abilities. (Last year's ran two weeks: the first for beginners, the second for advanced skaters.) The camp includes social skates, tours, technical instruction and training. (Go to web site.) (Feb. 7, 2006) Speed: USA Fit Prepares to Launch Inline Training Program in Austin - USA Fit is moving ahead with plans for an inline training program in Austin, Texas. The program, Austin Inline Fit, will prepare skaters for the Texas Road Rash (March 26) and the Disney World Inline Marathon (April 2), said coordinator Richard Littrell. The program will start Jan. 7 and run for 12 weeks. ... USA Fit launched its first inline training program last spring in San Francisco but pulled the plug when only a handful of skaters signed up, in part due to a lack of advertising. (Oct. 29, 2005) Camp Rollerblade Expands to Test the Market for Day Camps - When Camp Rollerblade was announced a couple months ago, it seemed like little more than a neat repackaging of Zephyr Adventures' Learn to Skate Camps. But it turns out that it will be more. ... Camp Rollerblade announced today it has added two new sessions -- one for adults, one for kids -- to test market the idea of inline "day camps."
