Gift for Skaters: Trish Alexander's Top Ten Gifts for Skaters Stuff a Back Pack with Skates and Stick It Under the Xmas Tree By Trish Alexander 10.) Skate Bags Transpacks have long been considered the top bags for skaters. They are designed well and come in a variety of materials and prices. I have a pricey model ($100) that I use for travel. It's sturdy enough to survive the gauntlet of airport baggage handlers with zippers and fabric intact. (Of course, there's no guarantee it will make it to the right airport!) Transpack makes a variety of mesh packs, which allow your skates to breathe and are nice for daily use. The company also makes basic no-nonsense nylon bags which run about $20 and come in a variety of colors. Go to Transpack web site. 9.) Skate Dryers Dry out your skates with K2's Powder Dry Packs. You shove them into your skates. Chemicals inside of them suck out the moisture. They are reusable and require no maintenance. See them at Inline Warehouse. 8.) Sonic Skate Tool Those little L-shaped tools that come with skates work fine when you dont have anything else. But Sonic's tri-tools work better. I use mine to take off my wheels and pop out my bearings. It fits well in my hand and doesn't hurt to use! It may be a bit much to lug around, but the extra weight is worth the added utility. Go to Sonic web site. 7.) Timex Bodylink System I bought this last summer on Ebay for about $275. I've yet to use all of its components. But the heart rate monitor is great, and the GPS lets me keep track of my mileage. You can buy it a piece at a time. Go to Timex web site. (Continued)
