Here's your chance to snag bargain tickets for Broadway's revival of the 1980s cult classic Xanadu. Skate or wear '80s attire to the Helen Hayes Theater box office on Times Square between noon and 2 p.m. Monday (May 14). The first 200 in line will get Xanadu tickets for $19.80 (as in 1980, the year both Xanadu and Rollerblade appeared). Regular tickets are $111. Attendees will also be treated to food and entertainment, including roller disco in Times Square and a performance by Rollerblade's aggressive skate team.
Xanadu, the movie, is a musical featuring Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck and Gene Kelly. It weaves fantasy with roller disco as it tell the story of a young artist inspired by a beautiful muse in Venice Beach. It was a box office flop, but it's soundtrack, which included songs by Newton-John and the Electric Light Orchestra, went platinum. Previews of Xanadu on Broadway start May 23. The show opens June 26. | ||||||||
