The state boasts some of the best facilities anywhere, including the amazing Brian Piccolo Park Velodrome in Cooper City. Trail Needs Help Half finished, the planned 17-mile Pumpkinvine Trail in north central Indiana is already providing some great rolling for skaters. But there's lots left to do. Want to help? But it's not gonna happen unless 64 more skaters sign up for the Arizona race by Saturday. The organizer needs skaters to pre-register (only 11 have so far) to gauge the viability of the Oct. 15 event. • Go to announcement Thursday Sept. 21, 2006 Town Mulls Skate Ban It's another one of those knee-jerk ideas. A few skateboarders damage some property in Lake Forest, Minn., so the muckety-mucks propose a partial ban aimed at all skaters. • Go to Planet story. Skate Bytes a2a May Reach 400 The number of skaters signed up for the Athens to Atlanta Road Skate (Oct. 1) hit 350 last week, and organizers say that day-of registrations could push the number to 400. Houston Marathon Postponed Unable to find a racecourse, organizers have scrubbed the launch of the Houston Inline Marathon but plan to try again next year.
