Racing News: Frederick, Baron Win Hermantown Inline
Aloe Up's Daniel Frederick came from behind in the final sprint to win this morning's Hermantown Inline half marathon in Minnesota. The 35-year-old from Milwuakee was part of the lead pack of 15-18 skaters that battled for the lead in the sprint. In the women's race, Sk8hard's Leah Baron, 22, finished more than a minute ahead of the second-place woman, Rainbo's Margo Carvell. Last year's winner, Adam Inlines' Kara Peterson, finished fourth despite falling during the race. The fall came after a back bolt dropped off her frame, causing it to come loose. This year's edition of the Hermantown Inline was raced on a revised course as the result of road construction. In all, 129 skaters participated in the event, 22 more than last year. They were cheered on by a crowd of locals who lined the streets in Hermantown, where the race started and finished. The weather at the start of the race was 72 degrees and a little muggy. The race was organized by Craig Frey, who said that after several late nights spent preparing for the race, he was ready to catch up on his sleep. Top Finishers: Men:
