Close Ranks! A member of Rainbo 1 urges his teammates to close ranks as the Texas Flyers pass on the inside. The Texas Flyers finished first in their heat, posting a time 20.4 seconds faster than Rainbo. Start times and heats were randomly assigned to the teams. Teams were set out on the course one at a time with a half minute between starts. Teams were often out of view of each other but could keep track of each others progress by listening to the lap times called out by the race announcer.
