Lawrence Wampler (center) of Austin sprints toward the finish line Sunday. If he looks happy, that's not surprising. The 20-year-old member of Hill Country Speed finished second in the advanced division and 19th overall, only four minutes behind the leaders — this despite the fact that he only started speed skating six months ago.
