K2 Makes No Changes to Radical Line for 2006

K2 isn't making any changes to its popular Radical line of marathon-fitness skates for 2006.

The company introduced the big-wheel line midway through 2005.

"We feel we have just begun to fill the demand for this product so updates were not in order," said K2 skates manager Michael Powell.

Besides, he said, "response from customers has been very good."

The Radical line is designed for advanced fitness skaters. The two models, the Radical 90 and Radical 100, come with 90 or 100 millimeter wheels and feature a low cuff, which allows for longer strides.

K2 says the line is "designed for experienced skaters who love speed."

Like most K2 skates, the Radicals feature the company's patented soft-boot technology, but with a difference — the Radical boot can be heat-molded for a closer fit.

The Radical 100 comes with:

  • four 100mm, 85a wheels
  • an aluminum extruded Longmount frame
  • ILQ-9 bearings

They are made in men's sizes 6 to 13 (U.S.) There is no women's specific model.

Street price is expected to be $299. But you can save a bundle by buying the 2005 model, which is already going on sale.
