Hi, Bill: How far to the side should the foot go on the push (to the side)? Someone on another site said it should go no further than shoulder width. But that seems a bit short to me. Thanks. - Eric from Wenatchee, Washington.
Hi, Eric: The push to the side should continue until you fully extend your leg, which is miles beyond shoulder width, as you can see in the photo below of my daughter, Nicole, in full extension.
Perhaps the comment you read was referring to the under push. When you are on your outside edge on the under push, your foot can come across to a point under the opposite shoulder. That is considered the normal position for the under push.
