Start of the 2009 Chicagoland Inline Marathon The newly crowned U.S. indoor women’s champion Erin Jackson is one of the elite skaters headed to Hoffman Estates, IL, this weekend to compete in the Chicagoland Inline Marathon and Rollerblade Inline Tour. Pro skaters will earn NROC points based on their finish in the four-stage Rollerblade Inline Tour, which boasts a cash purse of $3875. Jackson, 17, of Palmetto, FL, won the overall World Class women’s title this month at the USA Roller Sports Indoor National Championships in Lincoln, NE. She is a member of Bont USA, which is sending a large team to the Chicago suburb. Representing Bont will be Sophie Webb, Debbie Rice, Justin Stelly, Norm Kirby and Ryan Chrisler. Other top skaters headed to the event include Adams Inline’s Ty Fidler, Powerslide's Tony Muse; Candy Wong, Jessica Wright, Steve Larios, Bob Claire and Bob Harwell, all from Asphalt Beach; Terry Swanson and Zach Stoppelmoor, both of Cado Motus; and a large contingent of skaters from the Chicago-based Team Rainbo, including Cale and Margo Carvell. The tour starts Friday evening with a 340-meter dash, continues on Saturday with a 2-mile time trial and 9.5 km circuit race, and concludes Sunday morning with the marathon.
Advanced and Youth Division skaters will earn NROC points based on their finish in the marathon. Skaters are headed for the event from as far away as England, Canada and Israel. The forecast for the weekend is for scattered thundershowers Friday and Saturday and partly cloudy skies Sunday.
